90 Oscars – Film Lover Thoughts

What a night! How many of you stayed up all night to watch the ceremony? Believe me, while I write this on my way to work my eyes are itching but… totally worth it! What an incredible night, I must say I loved this edition for its simplicity and how easy going it was. No big surprises of the night, here are my thoughts on the highlights:

The Shape of Water
๐ŸŽฌ Best Movie
๐Ÿ“ฃ Best Director: Guillermo del Toro
๐ŸŽผ Best Original Music score
โœ Best Production Design
I loved every second of The Shape of Water and I’m not surprised for its all deserved nominations and wins. Guillermo created a unique univers where words are not needed but love and comprehension.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
๐Ÿ‘ต Best Actress: Frances McDormand
๐Ÿ‘จ Best Actor: Sam Rockwell
Three Billboards is a top favourite this year and I couldn’t agree more with the results. Frances and Sam make a great duo of seriously troubled people who, at the end, are not as troubled (or even more than before?).

I, Tonya
๐Ÿ‘ฉBest Supporting Actress: Allison Janney
I haven’t seen the movie yet but I know how powerful this women is and I cannot wait to see her performance.

The Darkest Hour
๐Ÿ’„Best Make Up
๐Ÿ‘ดBest Supporting Actor: Gary Oldman
Even if he’s a tremendous actor, he was up against the best performance of the year by Timotheรฉ Chalamet.

Blade Runner 2049
๐Ÿ“ฝ Best Cinematography ๐ŸŽžBest Visual Effects
Blade Runner was a breathtaking visual experience, very well deserved awards.

Call me by your name ๐Ÿ“– Best Adapted Screenplay
This is an incredible movie, my top favourite this year and even if I’m really happy for this win I wish it could have won many, many more awards.

Get out
๐Ÿ“‘Best Original Screenplay
Are you kidding me? No comments.

๐ŸŽšBest Sound Editing
๐ŸŽ›Best Sound Mixing
I personally admire Christopher Nolan and his films, but this year there was really splendid movies and the competition was high. Dunkirk power resides on its sound.

๐Ÿ–ŒBest Animated Movie ๐ŸŽคBest Original Song
Very well deserved best animated film, not so much about Best Original song, competing against “This is me” from the greatest showman
