Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at ODEON Wimbledon

Everything you’ve been reading so far about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 it’s true, all of it. It’s so great that I’ve already watched 2 times and this is not just about my weird habit of watching twice movies I consider masterpieces (Last two were La La Land and Birdman) but because of the ginormous level of entertainment. I knew I wasn’t wasting my time, I knew I will have even more fun the second time around.

Second parts have reached a whole new level in the last few years, most of the movies, especially action and adventure titles are expected to have 2, 3 or 4 parts (10 if you are Fast & Furious) but we cannot pretend to forget all the infamous second parts, and we tend to judge. Not this time. Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2 is not just an extension of the first, but an evolution. James Gunn has learned how to connect with his audience, and that’s why is it considered one of the best films of the year. His unique essence shapes this Marvel adventure into a new concept, a new classic. Irreverent, out-of-the-box sci-fi with so many references from the 80s that will make any millennial cry of excitement.

This unusual team of super-heroes are the perfect anti-heroes. Their irreverence and insubordination (maybe just comparable to Deadpool) makes them super badass and basically… they crack me up. But wait for it, this is not an adventure-spaceship movie, this is a comedy, a pretty good one. Make comedy is not easy, make space comedy? impossible. Not for James Gunn. But what were we all expecting anyway? Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) and Brandly Cooper (Rocket’s voice) both have comedian origins, and they lead the way to a fabulous Dave Batista (Drax) and an always extraordinary Michael Rooker (Yondu) my favorite character: “I’m Mary Poppins y’all!”. (You’ll understand when you watch. Yes, it will be epic for you too)

Everybody knows comedy is not an easy genre…. space comedy? No way, impossible. Well, not for James Gunn. But what were we all expecting anyway? Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) and Bradley Cooper (Rocket’s voice) both have comedy origins, and they lead the way to a fabulous Dave Bautista (Drax), a charming and glacial Zoe Saldana (Gamora and queen of the nerds) and an always extraordinary Michael Rooker (Yondu) my favorite character: “I’m Mary Poppins y’all!”. (You’ll understand. Yes, it will be epic for you too)

And of course, we have Baby Groot. The greatest (surprise?) and most precious team member that, even with his lack of communication skills he always saves the day. When Baby Groot dances to the rhythm of the (amazing) soundtrack you know you are watching the right movie as you are about to see the best opening credits. Ever.

This movie can take so much credit for reaching high levels of uniqueness that the only thing I could have possibly left to say is: GO WATCH IT! And bring your kids with you, they will love it.

About the cinema: I’ve done it! I moved into a new place and that was about my only criteria to have a Limitless card: an easily accessible cinema with lots of movies to watch at any given time. ODEON Wimbledon is a big surprise that blends with the environment: With 12 screens, 3D and IMAX sessions it offers about everything you need and could expect from the average commercial chain.

ODEON Limitless card advantage: watch all the movies you want as often as you like. And if like me, you chose the £19.99 option, you can go to any cinema in LondonThat’s THE dream. In any other countries I’ve lived I’ve never seen something like this before, even in Los Angeles! I adore every single feature of this card, and for that I bless Britain and it’s audacity to keep movie fanatics closer, much closer. Be ready to pay extra for 3D & IMAX sessions and for premium seats but feel free to book any movie online as there are no charging fees!

Just a heads up! I would always like to give amazing reviews, especially to a cinema I will be visiting often, but not all that glitters is gold. Screens: seats are located in comfortable steps that ensure no one is covering you the view, but the seats are old and far from the screen, so make sure to book your seat as close from the screen as possible (even if it looks closer on the map, it’s not!) also, heads up for all tall people, there’s no so much leg room, so try to pick corridor seats to spread your legs as much as you can. The staff could be friendlier, and a bit more cooperative, but not all of them are a pain, I got this awesome cardboard poster by just asking with a big smile… not bad right?

The general sense is comfortable, but it could use a renovation, everyone will be happier, especially locals! Anyway, I love having a cinema close with so many options, it adds an enormous value to my new home.

The Best: Initial and ending credits. It’s exhilarant humor. The Soundtrack.
The Worst: Not having more epic Yondu lines.
Popcorn: Salty. Good. Way too expensive for a Wimbledon cinema.
Tip: Look out for front lines. Premium seats have more leg room and armrests come up (perfect for lovebirds).

The Soundtrack is not to be missed!

How to celebrate Star Wars day in London | May the 4th be with you

Happy May the 4th! Also known as Star Wars day.

Today is a very special date for me. Star Wars is and it will always be one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies of all times. I grew up watching classics in my granda’s living room, and Star Wars couldn’t miss the list. I was fascinated and it marked my profound love for Sci-Fi from the age of 4. Today, besides showing us my humble fan-collection, I bring you the best activities you can do in London this May the 4th 2017.

I’ve prepared a very special post today for all Star Wars lovers out there. While we wait impatiently for the release of Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi, here are a few activities that you can do in London to celebrate the special occasion:

  • STAR WARS Identities at The O2  Are you ready to see original models, props and costumes for the original Star Wars films? This is probably the most real-life experience you will get, and you get to pick up a lightsaber!
  • Madam Tussauds Star Wars experience  Feel like a Jedi in the real-size decorations from the most famous scenes of the saga. Darth Vader, Jabba’s Throne room or the famous cantina are just some of the scenarios where you can revive every story of the saga. Beware Madam Tussauds, the day I come in I’m not going to want to go. On my sick days, I usually watch “Star Wars IV: A new hope”, can I get a VIP pass to wonder around on my moody days? They may be open to suggestions.
  • Lego Store What London has is one of the biggest and coolest Lego Store of all times. Be sure that Lego is preparing something awesome for today, I’ve been told that for a few days, Princess Leia and Kylo Ren have been guarding the store.
  • Disney Store We don’t have a Disney themed park in London, but we do have hours of fun and some majestic Star Wars merchandising that somehow blends with Cinderella carriage. This is one of the few perks of Disney buying every entire cool saga on the planet: they make it accessible to everyone.

I know you’ve all seen it by now, but… this needs a special space on this special date.
